DJ in Muskoka frequently asked questions
Start with the two questions everyone asks.
Availability and price are usually the beginning. These answers explain what is included, how the planning works and what you can expect from me before and during your event.
Are you available?
The quickest way to find out is to send me your event date and location.
I accept only one event per day. Availability changes throughout the year, and popular Saturdays can book well in advance. Once I know the date and venue, I can confirm whether I am available.
How much do you charge?
Most weddings and corporate events are $2,500 plus HST.
For a wedding, that generally includes:
- DJ and MC services
- Ceremony audio, when required
- Music for cocktail hour and dinner
- Up to five hours of dancing
- Professional sound and dance-floor lighting
- Wireless microphones
- Planning meetings and music preparation
- Early arrival, setup and teardown
Travel or unusual production requirements may affect the final price. Once I know the date, venue and event details, I will confirm exactly what is included.
What areas do you serve?
I am based near Muskoka and regularly DJ throughout Muskoka, Simcoe County and the Kawarthas, including Bracebridge, Gravenhurst, Huntsville, Lake of Bays, Muskoka Lakes and Georgian Bay.
I also travel elsewhere when the event and logistics are a good fit.
Do you DJ more than one event in a day?
No. I accept one event per day.
That allows me to arrive early, complete a careful setup and remain focused on one client rather than working around another booking.
Can our guests make requests?
Absolutely. Requests are information.
They help me understand the room, discover music that matters to your guests and respond to what is happening in real time. I will use my judgment, respect your direction and play requests that fit the event.
Will you respect our Do Not Play list?
Yes. Your Do Not Play list matters just as much as your Must Play list.
If you have told me not to play a song, artist or style, I will respect that instruction even if a guest requests it.
Can we choose the music?
Yes. Some clients give me a short list of essential songs. Others share a large playlist, favourite eras, artists, family traditions and songs connected to specific memories.
You can be as involved as you would like. I will use your guidance to understand your taste, then build on it while reading the room throughout the event.
What kind of music do you play?
I have been DJing since 1997 across clubs, festivals, weddings, private celebrations and corporate events.
A single event may move through Motown, disco, funk, rock, pop, hip-hop, R&B, country, dancehall, house music and current favourites. The goal is not to impose one predetermined sound. It is to find the musical path that works for the people in the room.
Do you provide ceremony audio?
Yes. When ceremony service is included, I can provide music playback and discreet amplification for the officiant, vows and readings.
I plan the ceremony separately from the reception so that the correct equipment, microphone coverage and music cues are in place before guests arrive.
Do you act as the MC?
Yes. MC service is included for weddings and events that require it.
My approach is clear, prepared and appropriate to the room. I can handle introductions, announcements and transitions without turning the event into a performance about the DJ.
What equipment do you provide?
I provide professional DJ equipment, Bose sound systems, wireless microphones and dance-floor lighting appropriate to the event plan.
Many Muskoka weddings use separate spaces for the ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner and dancing. I plan the equipment around those locations rather than assuming one sound system can serve every part of the day.
How early do you arrive?
I generally arrive at least three hours before I am required to begin.
The exact arrival time depends on venue access, the number of event locations and the production requirements. The objective is to finish setup, test everything and resolve problems before guests need the equipment.
How do we reserve our date?
Your date is reserved after the booking agreement is signed and the non-refundable booking fee has been received.
The booking fee is credited toward the total cost of your event. The agreement sets out the services, schedule, payment terms and other event-specific details before the booking is finalized.
What happens after we book?
We will continue planning by email, phone, video call or another practical method. I will gather the schedule, venue details, important names, music preferences, formalities and technical requirements.
Closer to the event, we will review the timeline and any remaining decisions so that I arrive with a clear plan while retaining the flexibility to respond to the room.
What happens if equipment fails?
Professional event work requires contingency planning. I carry backup equipment and build redundancy into the parts of the system that matter most.
I also arrive early enough to test the setup and address technical or venue-related issues before the event begins whenever reasonably possible.
Do you have policies concerning safety, inclusion and respectful conduct?
Yes. DJ in Muskoka is committed to respectful, inclusive and professionally managed events and working relationships.
